Reader’s Corner: discover specialized insights made in support of performances in Orange County and Los Angeles
“To me, ballet is not a form of entertainment but an art that goes beyond the physical realm. It is an expression of the inexpressible, a way to communicate the deepest feelings and thoughts without uttering a single word. In every pirouette, in every plié, there is a story, a piece of my soul shared with the audience. It is a profound connection that transcends the boundaries of the stage.”

Our Mission
Founded by Yuhua Zhang, The Critical Dancer publishes freelance reviews of local performances in the Orange County and Los Angeles area as well as critiques of virtual media and ballet history. The aims of the site are twofold: to encourage readers to form a deeper appreciation of dance by patronizing live concerts and to express personal views from the perspective of a trained dancer.
The Critical Dancer additionally utilizes insights from music and art to properly critique ballet media towards the pursuit of aesthetic ideals. Miss Zhang wishes to inform viewers how philosophy and different art forms come alive in the latest renditions of ballet.
